Confrérie Horlogère Introducing Watchmakers of the 21st century-David

You are immediately struck by his noble countenance: abronzed complexion, fine features, aquiline nose and a steady purposeful look that could only have come from
his Inca ancestors. David was indeed born in Peru, but his entry into life was
far from a fairy tale. Abandoned at birth, he was found in a Lima street by roadworkers, put into an orphanage and then sent to a foster family that exploited foundlings. Ill treated and crippled by polio, he ended up in the care of the Terre des Hommes foundation for child relief. That was when he got his name, David.

Adopted by a family from Neuchâtel and surrounded by brothers and sisters of every complexion, he went to the local school, and at the age of 15, started work in a factory in La Chaux-de-Fonds. When he was 17, he decided to learn how to be a watchmaker in Biel. David got married when he was 24. His three little girls are the sunshine of his life. David is a survivor. Fate has been cruel to him, he’s
endured the worst, but he’s still there. His strength of character brought him up from the abyss. Instead of destroying him, the misfortunes of his life have made
him stronger. If there were a sole survivor of a shipwreck it would be him. As Mathias Buttet, managing director of BNB Concept often remarks: « David gives off an amazing energy to all those around him ».

Outside his work and his family, David is mad about Hip-Hop, a culture, he says, that accepts him without judgement. He likes to work as a DJ when he can. His watch David’s attribute is resilience — the ability to withstand blows and trauma and to overcome adversity. The mechanism he created is like him: scintillating and flamboyant on top; and underneath, scarred with threads of gold and healed with indestructible precious materials. When he was offered membership of the Confrérie Horlogère, David jumped at the chance, seeing it as a way of getting his own back on life. Not that he bears a grudge; he simply wants to prove that every human being has the right to take the opportunities that come by. Neither cash nor glory interest him. What he wants most of all is for his mother and daughters to
be proud of him. He is dedicating his first movement to all the world’s disabled people, ethnic minorities, the «latinos del mundo», street urchins, children in shanties and orphanages and to all those who haven’t had his luck.
