TIBALDI for RIVA limited edition

Italian Pen Maker Forges New Partnership with Luxury Yacht Manufacturer Creating Luxurious Writing Accessories Indicative of Italian Sophistication. Distinguished Italian pen manufacturer Tibaldi is honored to introduce their newest line of fine writing instruments, the Riva Collection, in commemoration of the luxurious Italian yacht manufacturer. An ideal pairing, both companies are renowned for their contribution to the luxury sector; Tibaldi as the distinguished pen producer and architect of Italy’s first fountain pen, and Riva S.p.A as the celebrated design of distinct motor yachts.

“Our partnering with such a renowned name in nautical transportation and design is a true honor, and Tibaldi could not be more proud of the unique design and engineering that went in to crafting the Tibaldi for Riva pen collection,” comments Tibaldi CEO Giuseppe Aquila. “For the Tibaldi for Riva collection we strived to produce a limited edition set of unique writing instruments that embody Riva’s dedication to pristine motor yacht design. Our goal was attained by combining some of the most luxurious materials found on Riva yachts, with Tibaldi’s hand crafted artisanship. The result is a distinctive line of pens that is undoubtedly luxurious and speaks volumes of our combined luxury brands.”

The Riva brand began in 1842 when Pietro Riva succeeded in repairing two badly damaged boats that many others had previously attempted to restore yet had failed. It was not long after when his talents were discovered by a wealthy resident, who commissioned Riva to build a custom boat. With his legacy being carried on by Pietro’s son Ernesto and grandson Serafino and their creations of Riva passenger, racing, and cargo boats, the Riva name became synonymous with quality boat design and craftsmanship. It was not until the 1950s, that descendent Carlo Riva began to focus solely on the production of elegant pleasure boats. It was inarguably Carlos’ dedication to the luxury yacht sector that would catapult the Riva name to the forefront of the industry and make the Riva name tantamount to a brand of elegance and Italian style. Today, after an unbroken 166 year history, Riva is the world’s leading name in luxury yachting.

As design and style are both integral parts of both Tibaldi and Riva, the Tibaldi for Riva pen collection emphasizes their attention to detail. The exquisite lacquer work and woodwork found on the barrel and cap of each pen pays homage to Riva’s sumptuous interiors. In crafting the pen collection, Tibaldi chose to lacquer the Riva writing instruments with the same extremely durable patented secret lacquer used on Riva yachts.

Design nuances abound on this lavish pen series and in addition to the bespoke lacquer technique used, Tibaldi has also modeled the pen’s clip after the original Riva bitts, which are the vertical posts that extend above the deck to secure docking lines. As with all fine Tibaldi writing instruments, the barrel is handcrafted and features sumptuous inlaid wood reminiscent of the wooden deck on Riva yachts. Additionally, the traditional Tibaldi nibs, designed in the 1900s, are utilized in this pen collection. Each nib of the pen is crafted from 18K gold featuring a two tone coloration which seamlessly flows from white rhodium to yellow gold.

Further emphasizing their dedication to detail, Tibaldi has created a lavish case in which to store the Tibaldi for Riva collection, a fitting cool metal case, trimmed with the appropriate wood and lacquer corresponding to the writing instrument.
