Baume & Mercier -RIVIERA XXL MAGNUM

In 1973 Baume & Mercier surprised the watchmaking world with the RIVIERA, the twelve-sided watch dividing the round watch into twelve facets: one for each hour. The circle had been squared!.And almost after three decades,in 2007 The RIVIERA reveals itself in a whole new way as a modern-day adventurer with the new XXL MAGNUM model. It retains its twelve-sided design and its broad bezel, but adds titanium and rubber to its range of materials. The oversized 43mm case is topped by a double bezel: the first in sunray satin-brushed steel and the second in sapphire-blasted titanium.

Rubber is also featured in the strap: in addition to its resistance to extreme conditions and the harshest treatment,it ensures optimal wearer comfort and suppleness. That is definitely good news, because the RIVIERA XXL MAGNUM is surely not designed for a restful life. It is on the contrary endowed with a decidedly sporting nature that is reinforced by its design and functions. A high-precision chronograph makes it possible to count off each second of effort or pleasure on its owner’s wrist.The two chronograph counters, surrounded by a metal ornament that is rhodium-plated and decorated with “Côtes de Genève”,stand out clearly against the black dial to ensure optimal
readability. The new RIVIERA XXL MAGNUM is powered by a mechanical self-winding movement. A vertical porthole on the back of the case enables one to observe the “machine room” and the steadily vibrating oscillating weight. The latter winds the mechanism with each wrist movement: the more sport the owner does, the more energy he pumps into his RIVIERA watch!
